Workshop on “Protein profiling through decomplexation & -omics strategies”

Workshop on “Protein profiling through decomplexation & -omics strategies”, Oct 16 & 17, 2017, at Vetox Lab, Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine & Department of Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine

Workshop Synopsis:

Biomedical samples and natural products are often in the form of protein mixtures. Dealing with protein mixtures in research, however, can be very challenging. This workshop aims to introduce the concept and major approaches in protein profiling, the knowledge of which is fundamental to further works on protein purification, physicochemical characterization and functional studies. Various profiling techniques are available e.g. high-performance liquid chromatography, one- or two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, mass spectrometry-based proteomics etc.; however, knowledge and skills are needed to integrate these methods for an optimal research strategy suited to individual research objectives. In this workshop, participants will learn the knowledge and application of the techniques essential for protein profiling. Importantly, participants will also have the opportunity of hands-on training on some of the techniques and analyses.
